Commonwealth Institute London Interior

Some photos from the original, existing interior of the Commonwealth Institute in London.  The building was completed by 1962 by the architects Stirrat Johnson-Marshall and Robert Matthew
Johnson-Marshall. The roof construction is a hyperbolic paraboloid (like a Pringle or a saddle), a shape designed to acheive the goal of creating a building that looks like a tent in the park.

Intrestingly, the building will be redesigned by John Pawson and Rem Koolhaas to become the new home of the Design Museum in 2014.

The interior itself dont seem to be impressive at first sight, but it really is incredibly photogenic.

Zdjęcia oryginalnego wnętrza Instytutu Wspólnoty Narodów w Londynie. Budynek został ukończony w roku 1962 przez architektów Stirrat'a Johnson-Marshall i Roberta Matthew Johnson-Marshall. Konstrukcja dachu jest parabolidą hiperboliczną (wyglada jak Pringles, albo siodło), forma mająca oddać ideę utworzenia "namiotu w parku".

Co ciekawe, budynek zostanie wkrótce przeprojektowany przez architektów Johna Pawson i Rem Koolhaas na nową siedzibę Muzeum Designu.
