Tadao Ando + Blair Associates "Silence"

Obiekt zaprojektowany przez Tadao Ando we wspołpracy z brytyjskimi architektami Blair Associates, będący częścią planu mającego na celu polepszenie jakości przestrzeni publicznych w dzielnicach centralnego Londynu. 

Water feature designed by Tadao Ando in collaboration with UK architects Blair Associates being a part of the plan to improve the quality of public spaces around buildings.

Chmury pary są uwalniane co piętnaście minut z ulokowanych u podstaw drzew rozpylaczy.

Every fifteen minutes clouds of vapour are created by the atomisers located at the base of the trees.

 Projekt ten jest wspaniałym przykładem używania designu do uzyskania długoterminowych rezultatów w dzielnicach Londynu. Poprawianie jakości przestrzeni publicznych jest uzyskiwane na przykład poprzez usuwanie niepotrzebnych znaków. Rezultaty tych działań będą nie tylko zauważalne przez przechodniów, ale również przez właścicieli nieruchomości, których to wartość wzrośnie.

The project is an excellent example of using design in order to produce long-term results in London's neighbourhoods. Improving the quality of the public spaces is obtained for example by decluttering the unnecessary signage . The benefits will be seen not only by the pedestrians, but also the land owners, as the actions aim to boost the value of real estate.

Kolekcja prac Melissy Gamwell z tegorocznej wystawy Royal College of Art. Pokazywane prace są wynikiem zainteresowania projektantki relacją pomiędzy procesami fizycznymi, a obiektami wzorcowymi. Powstałe poprzez eksperymentowanie z przemysłowymi procesami odlewniczymi formy, są zarazem atrakcyjne wizualnie i funkcjonalne.

Collection of works by Melissa Gamwell, from this years Royal College of Art Show. Presented pieces come from the designers interest in the relationship between material processes and object typologies. Form of the objects which is both aesthetically apealing and functional, is the result of examining nuances within the industrial slip- casting process.

Peter Zumthor Serpentine Pavillion

Pawilon Serpentine Gallery Petera Zumthora"Hortus Conclusus"- "Zamknięty Ogród" to przestrzeń przeznaczona do kontemplacji i kontaktu z naturą. Pospolite rośliny, które  przykuwają uwagę i pobudzają zmysły zostały specjalnie dobrane przez znanego holenderskiego projektanta Pieta Oudolfa. (To artysta krajobrazu stojący za takimi projektami jak  Lurie Garden w Chicago, czy High Line w Nowym Yorku.)
Ogród i widok na niebo otoczone są prostymi czarnymi ścianami, co czyni je centrum naszej uwagi. Ogród staje się schronieniem, oddziela nas od zgiełku miasta, jego zapachów i nieustającego pędu.

Peter Zumthor's Serpentine Pavilion 'Hortus Conclusus'-'enclosed garden' is a contemplative space for everyone to enjoy the contact with nature.
Common plants, that drive viewers' attention engaging the senses, were chosen by the influential Dutch designer Piet Oudolf. (He is the landscape artist behind such projects as the Lurie Garden in Chicago’s Millennium Park and the High Line in New York.)
By surrounding the garden by simple black walls, the architect makes us face the garden and the open sky view. The garden becomes a shelter, screening us from the city's noises, smells and everyday rush.

Ten pawilon to esencja tworzenia zmysłowej, osobistej przestrzeni za pomocą minimalistycznych środków architektonicznych. Funkcja i przekaz jest jasny dla wszystkich, ludzie którzy tam przebywają są na to najlepszym dowodem.
Wydaje mi się jednak, że projekt lepiej by się sprawdził stojąc w samym centrum miasta, niż w naturalnym otoczeniu Kensigton Gardens. 

This pavilion design is the essence of creating sensual, personal space by using simple and minimalistic architectural means. The function and the idea is clear to everyone, people staying there are the best proof.
It makes more sense to me however to locate this oasis- pavilion in the middle of the city, rather than in the natural environment of the Kensington Gardens.

Kolekcja biżuterii tegorocznej absolwentki Royal College of Art Sadhbh Isabelle McCormack., inspiracją do której był trudny czas jakiego doświadczyła projektantka po przeprowadzce do Londynu.

Collection of jewellery by Royal College of Art graduate Sadhbh Isabelle McCormack. Inspiration for this project was the challenging time the designer has had since moving to London.

Projektantka chciała stworzyć biżuterię, która będzie działać jak osobista osłona, sprawia że noszący staje się spokojniejszy. Wierzy, że poprzez zwiększenie pewności siebie, jej projekty mogą wspomóc pokonywanie codziennego stresu.

She wanted to create jewellery that gives the wearer sense of calm, works as a personal shield. She believes that by increasing self confidence, her designs can give the power to overcome daily stress.

Sadhbh McCormack w swojej kolekcji łączy współczesne i tradycyjne techniki jubilerskie i kowalskie, pracuje zarówno w srebrze i mosiądzu, oraz używa elementów wycinanych laserowo.

Sadhbh McCormack in her collection uses modern and traditional jewellery and metalwork techniques such as laser cutting or silversmithing in silver and brass.

Malene Hartmann Rasmussen "If I had a heart I could love you"

Wystawy absolwentów Royal College of Art są świetnymi okazjami by zobaczyć przyszłe pokolenie projektantów i artystów pokazujące swoje prace w tym samym czasie. Zbiór niezwykłych pomysłów zrealizowanych w perfekcyjny sposób sprawia, ze bardzo ciężko podjąć próbę ich oceny.
Chciałabym pokazać instalację Malene Hartmann Rasmussen "Gdybym miał serce, mógłbym cię kochać" gdyż w pewnym sensie wyłamuje się ze współczesnych trendów w ceramice.

Royal College of Art graduation shows are great chances to see the next generation of designers and artists showcased at the same time. This collection of extraordinary design ideas executed to perfection makes being judgemental tricky.
I choose to show the work of Malene Hartmann Rasmussen "If I had a heart I could love you" as it somehow contrasts with the current trends in modern ceramics design.

Artystka przyznaje, że chciała aby jej praca wyglądała jak gdyby była wykonana przez zdolne dziecko. 
The artist admits that she wanted her works to look like a very skilled child could have made it.

Zaprasza nas do magicznego, kreskówkowego świata i zostawia interpretację widzowi, dzięki czemu każdy może stworzyć własną wersję historii.

She invites us to enter the magical cartoon like world, and leaves the interpretation open for the viewer, so that we can contribute to the story ourselves.
