Jak to zazwyczaj bywa na tego typu imprezach prawdziwe skarby są pilnie strzeżone przez błyszczące showroomy, które szampanem i eleganckimi przekąskami troszczą się by nie wchodzić do poukrywanych niedoreklamowanych przestrzeni wystawienniczych. Trzeba naprawdę się namęczyć by przejść przez tę zmysłową dżunglę. Trudy podróży zostały mi jednak wynagrodzone w złocie. Plastikowym złocie dokładniej...
I woud like to share with you my hunt from this years Clerkenwell Design Week.
As it usually is on such events the true designer's gems are well guarded by the shiny showrooms fooling you with champagne and elegant canapes preventing you from entering hidden under marketed exhibition spaces. One really has to fight one's way through this sensual jungle. I was well rewarded for this exhausting journey in ostentatious magnificence of gold... Plastic gold to be more precise.

The designer Florie Salnot not only feeds our desires but also offers Saharawis(nomadic people in southern Morocco) a sustainable way for generating income, and provide them with open-source technique and tools.
Plastikowa butelka jest malowana, a następnie cięta na cienkie paski za pomocą bardzo prostego narzędzia. Pasek plastiku jest nawijany na gwoździe i zasypany gorącym piaskiem, który sprawia, że plastik się kurczy.
Oto rezultaty.
The plastic bottle is first painted and then cut into thin stripes with a cutting tool. The plastic stripe is placed all around the nails, and submerged into hot sand which makes it shrink.
